What Started as a Classic Game
Bulls and Cows has been played on paper for over a century. One player thinks of a secret number, the other guesses, and after each guess they're told how many digits are correct and in the right position (bulls) versus correct but in the wrong position (cows). It's pure logic and deduction — no luck, no trivia knowledge, just reasoning.
Pigs and Bulls takes that timeless mechanic and builds a modern competitive platform around it, adding words alongside numbers, daily challenges that unite all players around the same puzzle, and a progression system that rewards consistent play.
How It Works
Each day, every player faces the same secret sequence. You make guesses and receive feedback: "bulls" for correct characters in the correct position, and "pigs" for correct characters in the wrong position. Using that feedback, you narrow down possibilities through pure logical deduction until you crack the code.
The game supports both word-based and number-based puzzles, with customizable sequence lengths from 4 to 8 characters. Shorter sequences are approachable for casual players; longer ones challenge even experienced deduction game veterans.
Game Modes
Classic — The standard daily puzzle. Everyone gets the same sequence, making it easy to compare results with friends and compete on the leaderboard. Take your time, think through your deductions, and aim for the fewest guesses possible.
Blitz — Speed meets logic. The same deduction mechanics but with a timer adding pressure. Blitz rewards players who can think systematically under time constraints — it's a different kind of challenge that tests intuition as much as reasoning.
Practice — Unlimited puzzles with no stakes. Perfect for learning strategies, experimenting with opening sequences, or just enjoying the puzzle without worrying about your daily score.
Difficulty and Progression
Three difficulty levels — Easy, Medium, and Hard — let players calibrate the challenge. Hard mode offers a 1.5x XP multiplier, rewarding players who push themselves with tougher sequences.
The XP progression system tracks your cumulative performance across all modes. Starting at Rookie, you level up through tiers as you play consistently and efficiently. The system rewards both skill (fewer guesses) and dedication (daily streaks).
Competition and Community
Leaderboards — Daily, weekly, and all-time rankings let you see where you stand against the entire player base. Compete on total score, average guesses, or win streaks.
Tournaments — Structured competitive events with multiple rounds. Tournaments test consistency across a series of puzzles rather than performance on a single game.
Multiplayer — Challenge specific players to head-to-head matches. Same puzzle, same starting point — the better deduction wins.
Visual Customization
Multiple themes let you personalize the experience — Original for the clean default look, Matrix for a hacker aesthetic, Sunset for warm tones, and Midnight for a dark mode that's easy on the eyes during late-night puzzle sessions.
Who It's For
Pigs and Bulls appeals to anyone who enjoys logic puzzles, word games, or daily brain teasers. If you like Wordle, Mastermind, or Sudoku, you'll find something to love here. The daily format makes it easy to fit into a routine — one puzzle, a few minutes, and you've given your brain a workout.
The competitive features add depth for players who want more. Leaderboards, tournaments, and multiplayer transform a solo puzzle into a social experience without losing the core appeal of quiet logical reasoning.
Built in Colorado
Pigs and Bulls is built by Mile High Secure's development team in Denver. What started as a side project exploring game mechanics became a full-featured platform with thousands of daily players. It's a showcase of what focused, user-driven development looks like — every feature exists because players asked for it or usage data showed it was needed.
Mobile Apps Coming Soon
Native iOS and Android apps are in development, bringing push notifications for daily puzzles, offline play support, and a native experience optimized for phone screens. Your account, XP, and stats will sync seamlessly between web and mobile.
